The code is posted to SourceForge as of June 2015.
Coal Ship conveyor-flood loader
as of May 2015 it is not a conveyor-flood loader, just a flood loader.
Coal in train cars from mine floodloader
is transported up and delivered to be rotary dumped into conveyor into ship loader into ship. Ship sails to distant port. Then the ships conveyor unloads at dock into conveyor-flood loader that loads train cars for delivery to steel mill rotary dumper and from there the coal is conveyored down into the mine flood loader.
- Ship unloads using its built in conveyor system. Ships coal is conveyored into flood loader and flood loaded into train cars.
Lines drawn , Cuts made
Soldered with downspout rods visible, semi complete flood loader
- Coal Ship conveyor-flood loader
- Assembly is much the same as other hoppers made for the ships conveyor with the addition of the a rectangular hood coal shaper from the mine floodloader
.
- Enlarged sheet size to 19" x 6" and depth of cut to 3". Hopper is 5x 4 x3.5" deep with 2" of angle for a total depth of 5.5".
- Plywood base surrounds the hopper at the top and back with legs on the front corners for support...
- Open close, Raise lower, Auto run & stop, Emergency Reset buttons
- Standard size servos are used rather than micro sized...
- Electronics... are similar to the flood loader - which this actually is : a flood loader. As of July 2015 they have gone through too many versions and no longer look very 'clean'.
- IR transmit and receive LEDs mounted on the structure were used rather than light detectors mounted in the tracks...
- There is a box built around the back that hides the wires and board.
- The IR LEDs are not yet placed... dunno which way the train will run through... The LEDs have been tested for the range required, about four inches. They will have to be mounted and aimed carefully to get good readings of actual edge detection, but they can get a sharp edge change...
IR emitter detector version 1
IR emitter detector version 2
- I installed a split pair, one in the front and the other at the back so the car would go between them. The readings were too eratic in real life to work.
The second version is a board that has a pair next to each other mounted on the back wall pointing to the cars. Reflections off the yellow edge seems to work, black is not seen at all.
All the version 1 wires are tied together and the board connections are unused, made different connections for the version 2.
- Ordered some different types of IR detectors, they will arrive someday. One or the other types of connections should work with the new IR LEDs, hopefully, Murphy snickers.
- When they arrived he was in contortions on the floor. Big ones, little ones ,board ones, bored ones, ... none worked :(
- Adafruit IR breakbeam #2167 sold as pairs emitter & detector.
- Hook up the emitter to 5V and Ground; the detector to 5V, Ground, and an Arduino pin to read the digital signal...They work.
